Temperature Requirements

  • The most optimum temperature for mango trees is not below 35°F (1.7°C) and not above 95°F (35°C).
  • At temperatures below 25°F (-3.8°C): older (well established) mango trees could be severely damaged or die.
  • At temperatures below 30°F (-1°C): young mango trees could be severely damaged or die.
  • At temperatures below 40°F (4.4°C): fruits and flowers on the mango tree could die.
  • At temperatures above 113°F (45°C): vegetative growth stops.

Sun Exposure Requirements

  • Mango saplings: they need bright but not direct sunlight.
  • Mango trees: They need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.

Water Requirements

The best watering technique for mango trees is to alternate wet and dry. 

Soil Requirements

Mostly any kind of soil could work for mango trees, but there needs to be good drainage to avoid wet feet and root rotting.
