Your compost can be ready in two to three months if you apply the following tips.
- Grind your compost. This is the step that will make your compost mature and become ready for use in a very short time. Also, it will make your compost unappealing for rodents who will have nothing to chew on.
- Place your compost in an empty coffee can with holes drilled in it’s bottom. Place a plate underneath the coffee can to collect any released liquid. You can use this liquid right away as a fertilizer for your plants.
- Don’t let your compost dry out until it’s matured. Keep adding water when your compost starts drying out, until your compost is mature. Water is what will keep the composting bacteria alive and working.
- Add in some yogurt. The bacteria in the yogurt will help in breaking down and maturing your compost.
- Keep it in a hot sunny place. The heat from the sun will accelerate the composting process.
- Stir you compost every day. This will keep bringing the lower layers up and exposing them to the oxygen in the air. This will accelerate the oxidation of your compost. I use a long bamboo stick to do that.
